Classic Cannonau di Sardegna made with a careful selection of grapes from the Vineyard Orbuddai situated at the feet of mountain Corrasi. Best environment for Cannonau variety , this is the birthplace of a superb wine with great personality with hints of myrtle and Mediterranean scrub. For its distinctive and special characteristics it is preferred in pairing with traditional Sardinian dishes.

ORIGIN AND PROCESSING
Appellation: Cannonau di Sardegna DOC Nepente di Oliena.
Varietal composition: 100% Cannonau.
Vineyards: About 15 years old, spurred cordon system.
Soil: Decomposed granite soil.
Harvest: Manual harvest in crates.
Vinification: Fermentation at controlled temperature in order to preserve the typical aromas of the variety.
Maturation: 12 months in 500 lt oak barrels, and another 3 months in bottle.
TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Garnet red with purple reflections.
Nose: The bouquet features notes of fresh red fruit typical of the grape variety Cannonau, a discrete and fine spiciness in the finish tends to enhance the aromatic structure.
Taste: Wine with a considerable acidic backbone, rightly tannic, overall very balanced, fruity and spicy notes reappear to complete the sensations anticipated by the nose.
Alcoholic content: 14,5% Vol.
Serving temperature: Excellent if served at 15/18 °C.

The Cannonau grape
Wine has written the history of our community since 1665 when the Jesuit priests started the cultivation of grapes and olives. It is estimated that in 18th century they had already planted 80.000 vines of Cannonau. Wine has been a distinctive badge of pride in Oliena since then and has become part of its culture to the point that here Cannonau is not a wine like others, here in Oliena it has its own name. In fact the Cannonau of Oliena is also known and appreciated by the name of Nepente
